Your aggregates will last the lifetime of the surface you install them in, however, before you install them in your chosen surface, please read these five suggestions:
- When you receive your aggregates, please test them to ensure that they glow. We’ve never sent out a shipment that doesn’t glow but if we do experience that first time, it’s important that we catch the issue before you install them. A reminder, absolutely no refunds are given after the product is installed in your surface.
- Glow aggregates MUST be cast (fertilizer spreader preferred) and troweled into the surface for which they are installed in. DO NOT MIX aggregates with any surface ingredients prior to installing including plaster, cement, pebble mixes, etc.*
- Once installed into your surface, you must be able to see the aggregates for them to glow. If they are buried, they will not glow through the material they are buried under.
- Glow aggregates are NOT electric and should not be expected act electric. They do not have an on-off switch and must rely on light that “excites” them to charge. Strategic UV light installations will produce the best results.**
- Ambient light is beautiful, especially in landscaping and pool design, but too much ambient light will lessen the effect of glow aggregates. Once the brightness of your ambient light overcomes the brightness of your aggregates, you will not be able to visibly see the glow of the aggregates. The darker the area where your aggregates are installed the better.
* Care must be taken when aggregates are cast. Please do not treat them as any other cast aggregate you may apply. Be strategic, practice your application, and make sure, if you have a crew that is applying the aggregates, that they are supervised during the process. More information HERE.
** Any light will charge the aggregates, however, the best light to use to charge the aggregates is UV light. Non-UV lights charge the aggregates much slower than UV. A UV light will charge the aggregates in 30 seconds compared to 5 minutes for any other type of light source.
