How long do the aggregates glow?
Up to about 15 hours in complete darkness, dimming gradually through the night.
How long will they continue to work?
Properly installed, they're designed to glow night after night for up to about 20 years.
Are they as bright at sundown as after a light charge?
No. At sundown they may be around 25% of full brightness. White LED or UV light recharges them for a stronger glow.
Do I need UV lighting?
No. Sunlight and other suitable light charge them. UV is an optional way to recharge faster and more consistently.
Can regular pool lights charge them?
White LED pool lights can help a little, but results vary with brightness, placement, time and distance. For a bright glow every night, use INDI-Glo UV. It's made to recharge glow aggregates and mosaics after dark.
Do colored pool lights charge them?
Some colored light may charge them a little, but white and UV light work better.
Can the aggregates be used outside of swimming pools?
Yes. Concrete, walkways, patios, landscaping, walls, façades, artwork and more.
Can they be used in fiberglass or vinyl pools?
No. They're made for compatible plaster, cementitious and concrete surfaces, not fiberglass or vinyl.
Can they be added to an existing pool?
Usually during a compatible resurfacing. They aren't normally added to a finished surface without resurfacing.
How much aggregate do I need?
It depends on the surface, area, size and density. Concrete starts around 1 lb per 40 sq ft. Pool finishes start around 1 lb per 50 sq ft, from 1 lb per 70 sq ft (light) to 1 lb per 40 sq ft (heavy). The aggregate calculator does the math.
Can homeowners install the aggregates themselves?
Some concrete and decorative work may suit experienced DIYers. Pools should be done by a qualified pool-finishing professional.
Can I order samples before purchasing?
Yes. The Pool Sample Kit is $99 right now (normally $149), plus $10 shipping. It has six Pool Mix samples, White and Blue by day in Glacier, Aqua and Firefly, plus a 3" dotted starfish mosaic. Order it in the shop. After you buy it, we'll email you a $99 code, so the kit comes back as credit on an order of 5 lb or more.
